It seems like at least once per week, I find myself in need of another website.  You see, I have been trying to build an online business for a number of weeks now, and I am making a new website every couple of days.  The challenge for me though is to come up with unique looking sites and great content, but to be hones, I only have time for one out of the two tasks.

For most of my Internet marketing career, I have submitted my sites to web directories.  If you wanted to sum up my technique I just submit my site to a general directory here, a niche directory there, and repeat.

My last count of the number of directories that I have submitted my site to stood at about 250.  I feel like that is a lot, and it has taken me quite a bit of time to do it.  But it wasn’t until the other day, while I was submitting my site to a deep links directory that I came across something that blew my mind.

You see, I was browsing through the recent listings on this site to see what sites were recently approved to get some ideas on how to craft my listing.  Most of the sites were pretty normal, except for the one that caught my eye.  That site had 8000 web directory listings - whoa!  Suddenly the "big" 250 sites I had submitted to seemed very small.

I added the site to my bookmarks so that I can refer to it when I need a new place to submit my site to.  It sure seems crazy - I guess I have a lot of work to do.

Whether you are just starting out with your first website, or have a large network of many sites, I am sure one thing on your mind is promotion.  Even if you had the most beautiful website in the world, without promoting it, no one would ever see it.
