The other day, I told my daughter that if I tripped over her dog bed one more time, than she was going to have to get rid of the dog. She cried; I felt bad. But, I was tired of the fact that she was dragging it all through the house and leaving it in the middle of the way.

I apologized to her for getting angry, but I reminded her of the conversation we had when we were looking for dog beds, before we got the puppy. I told her it was important that the dog have a quiet place to go to sleep and, as we discussed this, we decided that moving her bed all over the house would not be comforting for the dog.

She agreed with me and it has been much better since then. I know that she always wants the puppy with her, so I told her that she could put Mollie’s bed in her room from now on, as long as it stayed put.

Today was not a good day to wake up.  It sounds bad, but sometimes having children is a disaster in itself.

Take today for example.  I woke up just half an hour ago, thinking that it was going to be a nice day.  I could hear the birds chirping and the sun shining in the window, and well, I had a good sleep as well.  It seemed like everything was going to be great until I went to make myself coffee.

Disaster!

My children had decided to put their rubber boots on, walk through the mud, and then stomp around the house.  There was mud on every carpet in the house, and I knew that there was going to be no way for me to get it out.

Thankfully, a phone call to the first listing under carpet cleaning Devon in the phone book has someone on the way to fix my problem.  Some days I sure “love” (insert sarcasm here) being a parent!

I have always been a firm believer that you get farther in life if you know more than one language.  When it was time for my first child to start school I knew that I would be looking into enrolling him into one of the good UK language schools.

At the time, we were deciding what we thought his second language should be so we decided to contact language schools UK to find out what was offered.  We spoke to the principal of one of the prestigious schools there and he did a very good job on helping us decide what would be best for our son.

We got him enrolled and thus far, we have not regretted our decision one bit.  He is doing exceptionally well and is not having problems learning in any language at all.  I am share that this will give him an advantage when he enters the job world as he will be able to service to different kinds of people.

I have spent the greater part of my life as a parent writing custom research papers for my children.  I always said I would never have a child who struggles in school and for that reason I do as much of their work for them as I can.  A lot of people would think that this is wrong but I don’t think it is hurting my children one little bit.

There are so many students out there right now that buy research papers from other people, that it can’t be all bad to have your parent helping you out with the task that you are struggling with.  It is not as if I am sitting in the classroom writing their exams for them.

I have always enjoyed dissertation writing until the helping my children out with this it helps to keep me feeling young and it helps them to get better grades than they can ever hope to achieve on their own.  I don’t feel as though we are cheating as they sit and do the research with me.

As we are awaiting the birth of our first child, we have been learning a lot about Medicare Part B. This pertains to insurance. We never had the type B insurance through Medicare because we never felt much need to have it. It is funny how perspectives change when you all of a sudden have a new little person to be responsible for. We suddenly had to think about things like broken bones and scrapes and cuts. We do know that children get hurt and sick and we need to be prepared for this.

It got us thinking a lot about Medicare Supplement Plans. I do not want to be stuck going into debt over the unexpected illness or injury of a child. Looking over all the forms, I even consider how lucky we have been to not have needed the coverage when we didn’t have it.

What actually prompted us to look into it was that my friend had to scrounge for diabetic supplies for her son when he was diagnosed and they didn’t have the coverage that they needed to pay for his supplies. It was then that I decided that I would be prepared if it happened with my child.

Let me tell you a little story about me not planning ahead.  It is full of tragedy (at least in one person’s opinion) and a lot of yelling and screaming.  The tale goes like this:

Last June it was my daughter’s Prom.  I wanted to make it a special event, so back in September I promised her that I would get her a NYC Limo Rental – and she was so excited.  Problem was, I forgot to make any reservations through any of the many New York Limousine Rental companies.

So, when June rolled around and I was ready to take her to the Prom in our station wagon with wood paneling, she started yelling at me.  Between her sobs and yelling all I could hear was "Prom Limousine New York" and some other choice words that I won’t mention here.

Crap!

I guess I forgot.  I tried to phone around to get her a limo, but no luck: I was too late.  Needless to say, she has never forgot that I forgot her limo – and she rubs it in all the time.  So, a note to you other fathers out there – don’t forget to book your daughter’s prom limo, or you’ll regret it.  I sure do.

My son came home today with an assignment from his teacher: doing a report on businesses in other countries.  Now, you might think that this is an easy assignment, but there was a twist: they couldn’t have offices in our country.

Wow.  Now that was something a little different.  It is one thing to write about businesses that you are familiar with, but it is another to write about something that you know nothing about.  We did a little brainstorming and came up with two industries we had some knowledge about: real estate and finance.

Living in in Canada we decided to pick a country around the world from us: Africa.  We fired up our computer and looked online for real estate and finance companies in Africa – there were quite a few.  What we were looking for was two companies that were in the same part of the country.  After about an hour we found two that fit the bill.

The first company we found was a real estate company that is very popular in South Africa.  The company is Pam Golding International and they employ over 1600 people in over 140 branches.

The second company we found was a finance company that was founded by the lawyer Ian Slot.  Seef Homeloans works with their staff to find financing for people looking to buy property in South Africa.  Established in 2000, his company is widely recognized for outstanding service.

We are going to have to collect a lot of information to write this report.  We are going to use what we found and what we find when we go to the library to write it.  He has to get it done by next Friday, so we are going to the library tonight.

The Ridgefield pediatrics consists of many wonderful and caring pediatricians.  The offer great primary care for children, as well as specialized care for those who need it most.  The doctors are all very knowledgeable and thorough. 

I have taken my children to a number of different pediatricians when our own family pediatrician was unavailable.  I have never been disappointed.  Not only are they all friendly and caring with the youngsters, but they also do their best to keep wait times at a minimum.  When we have had a scheduled appointment, I don’t think that we have ever sat there for more than ten minutes past the appointment time.  When one of the children has been sick, it has never taken more than a day to get them seen by one of our Ridgefield pediatricians.

Because of these many reasons, I am a big advocate and will continue to be so, even after my children have grown.
