For the past couple years, I’ve been running my own beauty consultant business. Though I had never originally intended to have my own business, I saw a need in our community that took initiative to fill that need and profit from it.
My background in beauty was fairly limited at the time, but I had attended a hair school when I was younger so I did have some experience with makeovers (at least when it came to hair).
The company that I joined provided a one day beauty school for everyone to get a basic understanding of how to perform makeovers and offer advice as a beauty consultant. Though the workshop was relatively thorough, I felt that I needed more training in order to provide good value to my customers.
I enrolled in a program at a Beauty Academy that was specifically designed for people like myself that were going to advise others as to what they could do to increase their own personal beauty. It was not only the best decision I made with respect to my business, but it also help me to grow into an effective beauty consultant.
While there are many companies that try to provide products and services to the masses, I would rather serve a small niche and be the dominating force within it. Not only am I able to specialize in exactly what my clients need, but I am also able to become the main provider of services to my industry.
By following this strategy, I was able to become the main provider of business forms in my community. What set me apart from my competitors was that I ensured that the forms provided were not general in nature: they were specific to the city in question.
Some examples of the forms we provided included deed polls and company registers for our area. I made sure that they were specific to the laws in the area which meant that my clients needed to do very little customization and research before filling them out.
The results of my specialization proved to be very profitable and they still are to this day. In fact, whenever I design a business and make sure to cater to small niche and dominate it.
We recently had the opportunity to acquire a hotel in an auction. We bought the property for pennies on the dollar, though we knew that it needed some renovations and updating.
So for the past month or so, we have been renovating the hotel. We have replaced the carpet, the light fixtures, and the beds. We just have the bathrooms left and we should be ready to reopen again.
We have had to make some decisions when it comes to the facilities that we are going to have in each room. While we originally decided that we were going to have bathtubs in each room, we have instead decided to go with shower cubicles. Not only will the showers take up less room, but we can make the rooms slightly bigger, and therefore charge more per night.
There is a sales rep coming to talk to us about electric showers as well - supposedly it will save us money on utility bills.
Needless to say, it is nice that this work is almost done - we need to start to make money really soon.
My wife has been assembling scrapbooking kits for many years now, and has been selling them in town for a small commission. Sure, she doesn’t make a lot, but whatever she makes is spending money for us, so the more, the merrier.
She came to me the other day and told me that she had started up an online store to sell the kits that she had created. I guess she signed up with an offshore merchant accounts company and they provided her with free shopping cart software that had an integrated credit card processing system.
So she has spent the better part of the past week setting up her store. She has taken pictures of pretty much everything and it is starting to look like a nice site.
I have been doing the work around the house so she can get it finished - I bet it will do very well.
I can admit that I don’t know everything and that I am always ready to learn something new. In fact, that is why I searched for a mentor for so long - now I have someone that knows more than I do to help me out.
Specifically, I am trying to achieve some level of MLM success - up to this point, the results have been pretty mediocre. Sure, I have made a little bit of money, but beyond that, I haven’t made much at all.
But that is where my mentor steps in - he has good experience with MLM lead generation as well as the ins and outs of running a successful business. Even his suggestion that I should be blogging for profit - no fun - has made a difference in my bottom line.
I have a ways to go before I am an expert, but I know that with direction from my mentor, that will definitely be a possibility.
I am one of those people that can easily be swayed by people trying to get me to sign up for home based businesses. I have tried many of them. Some were successful and some were definitely not. In fact, I am a good source when it comes to wanting to know the best home based business.
I think the ones that are the best home based businesses are the ones that allow you to make a fifty percent profit into the product that is sold. I also think it is important that you really believe in the product that you are selling. In the end, though, my downfall is that I am not an especially good salesperson and I cannot convince people that they absolutely need what I am selling.
I keep telling myself that I am not going to be suckered in again, and in fact, it has been quite awhile since I have signed up for anything. I mostly do not even go to the home shows anymore. I guess I will start attending again when I meet the man of my dreams: Mr. Will Power!
My cousin, who runs an import business, brought me back some lingerie pieces from her last buying trip to China. They were really nice and they were such a hit that I decided to become a wholesale lingerie distributor. I made a large order and decided that I would try to sell them through a web site.
I thought that it would be a way for me to make some spending money and I never considered the fact that it might take off like a lightweight jet. I sold through most of my inventory in a little over a week and had to place a huge order from China for more inventories.
The orders kept coming in and I was worried that I was going to lose business as I waited for supplies to come in, but all of my customers were patient and said that they certainly did not mind waiting at the prices I was selling for. I keep it pretty stocked up now and am finally ready to quit my day job.
Our hotel has been given the option to have a full page ad in the local tourism guide at a deep discount. You see, the owner is friends with the person that creates the tourism guide, and we have given him discounts on nights that he has stayed in the hotel.
It has been decided that we are going to highlight the amenities that our hotel offers including spacious rooms, a waterslide and weight room. Sure, lots of hotels offer the same services, but ours are the largest facilities in the city.
There is a commercial photography firm that is coming later today to take the pictures of our hotel to be shown in the ad. We are counting on their eye for detail to cast the best face forward (so to speak) and make our hotel a star.
From the samples that they provided, I can’t wait to see the final results - they do some very good work.
This past year I went out on a limb and quit my job to start my own Internet company. It has had its ups and downs but overall I am pretty thrilled with the results. This past month I have gone to an SEO firm for some ideas on how to get more visitors and more links to my web page. I have to say that the results have been tremendous.
If I had known that it was going to do so well I would have gone to an SEO agency months ago. I just imagine how much better I would be doing right now if I had been on the ball back when I started the company. I know I can’t dwell on the what ifs but you live and learn and I will know for next time.
I know that I will never doubt what SEO services can do for me again. I will admit that I was a little bit skeptical at first but it had been a really great thing for my company and I will now endorse it all the way. I guess I will have to wait and see what the long term benefits will be but I am completely happy with what it has done for me so far.
For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of having the perfect wedding. I would even play out how I wanted it when I was a little girl with my dolls. I knew that someday, I would hope to marry the perfect guy on my perfect day.
Years later that did indeed come true. I met the man of my dreams, we fell in love, and had the perfect wedding on the beach. It was better than I had imagined, and I thought that since I had such great luck planning my own wedding, that I could share my talents with others.
I started to offer a wedding planning service in our small town as there was no one doing it at the time. Sure, we only had half a dozen weddings per year, but I helped them have the best day possible.
There is just something about new love that makes my job so rewarding - each wedding that I attend makes me feel young again.
