Becoming a Better Beauty Consultant

Posted By Twyla on October 9, 2008 @ 1:40 am

For the past couple years, I’ve been running my own beauty consultant business. Though I had never originally intended to have my own business, I saw a need in our community that took initiative to fill that need and profit from it.

My background in beauty was fairly limited at the time, but I had attended a hair school when I was younger so I did have some experience with makeovers (at least when it came to hair).

The company that I joined provided a one day beauty school for everyone to get a basic understanding of how to perform makeovers and offer advice as a beauty consultant. Though the workshop was relatively thorough, I felt that I needed more training in order to provide good value to my customers.

I enrolled in a program at a Beauty Academy that was specifically designed for people like myself that were going to advise others as to what they could do to increase their own personal beauty. It was not only the best decision I made with respect to my business, but it also help me to grow into an effective beauty consultant.

New Jewelry Thanks to a Friend

Posted By admin on January 17, 2008 @ 8:01 pm

I don’t know why I had never thought of wearing stainless steel jewelry before, but I had a friend who was wearing a bracelet that I absolutely loved. I was surprised when she told me what it was made of and how much it had cost her. I had to look for some for myself.

I found that exact bracelet and quite a few other things that I absolutely loved at a wholesale stainless steel jewelry store. The greatest thing was that the more pieces you bought, the cheaper they actually became. I knew I could use a whole lot of these and placed a rather large order.

I learned that by buying stainless steel jewelry wholesale, I could actually afford to fill my jewelry box, as well as get my friends and family some really nice pieces as Christmas presents. I am gradually stocking up and am so thankful for my friend having the bracelet that started it all.

The Secret Behind my Straight Teeth

Posted By Twyla on December 9, 2007 @ 11:49 pm

A fellow student made a comment the other day about what perfectly straight teeth I had.  She was surprised, she said, that anyone’s teeth could naturally be that straight.  I chuckled to myself, knowing what she didn’t.

The secret was that I didn’t have naturally straight teeth.  I wore braces for four years to get the perfect smile.  She did no know this because I wore Invisalign braces.

These are clear braces and cannot be seen by anyone unless they know that they are there and if they are looking for them.  It is technically a large series of ever-changing retainers that are only taken out to eat.  Sure the price is at least twice as much as traditional braces, but without the social awkwardness that traditional braces come with.

So, yes, I have nice teeth, but they came at a price.  I wasn’t about to share this bit of information with my classmate though.  After all, it’s hard to be perfect - but someone has to do it.

Choosing a Beauty Salon

Posted By Twyla on November 14, 2007 @ 2:13 am

Now, I am sure all you ladies know that all beauty salons are not created equal.  Some of them offer extra services that their competition does not, and quite often you get what you pay for.

Choosing a beauty salon is much like a job interview - you read about them on their resume (their ad in the phone book for example) and go there for the interview.  Basically, the interview is much like test driving a vehicle - I want to see what they got.

I try not to limit my choices to just one of the beauty salon professionals - I need to try out at least three of them to make my decision.  I may get one to style my hair, one to a manicure, and another to do a pedicure.  I ask plenty of questions regarding their education and experience, and about their lives to see how friendly they are.

Just like a real job application, I only come back to salons that have made the cut.  If they are not friendly enough, not experienced enough, or do not offer the services I require, I don’t bother to go back.   Besides, in order to stay beautiful, you can’t be second best.
