Not helped by them wanting to say hi to the ducks. In summer there are often more animals around for them to chase, so be even more careful.

Summer, is often the time of the great holiday. So if you are having to choose a pet sitter, choose a professional business, who vet and train their pet sitters. A good London pet sitter, will even identify all the risks as part of their contract. This is often the wisest option for the animal, they prefer to be in their house. If not, and you must put them in kennels, check the boarding out. Preferably a personal commendation, as always there can be good and poor. The animal may not like it, but they are safe.

What about taking your animal on holiday with you. Without doubt the most risky option for a pet. Prepare and plan well. Food, water, toys, blankets etc. The journey in the car is risky for ourselves as well. Certainly consider using a pet restraint, you use one, for obvious reason, so ensure your pet has one. The risk of dehydration, so stop for water stops for you and your pet every hour, or a bit longer if you have the clime on. Be particularly vigilant on the stops, there are often cars moving about, and the animal may want to take a run for it (you might as well).

When you arrive you will be in a new location. So check it out thoroughly for any risks to your pet. The greatest one is escape, above all in motels, straight out onto a main highway and cars. Do not forget that digestion of fruit and especially {raisins and grapes} is dangerous to dogs, so keep them away from the fruit.

Pets, will find it difficult to find their way back to your motel, if lost, its not as likely as if they were at home – and the neighbours know them. This is not the case on vacation. Make sure you have good name / phone tags and keep them on a leash.

I have no doubt that the majority of people who read this article would agree that life as a teenager is a far from easy one. I would go as far as to say that todays teenagers have never had it so tough. Peer pressure, stressing about their looks, exams and worrying about their love life; it can be quite hard. So what can us as parents do in an attempt to lower these stress levels and to make our child’s teenage years more bareable?

“I blame the kids parents” is a famous saying. At times I agree with the statement as I sometimes can not understand the amount of young teenagers who are still out and about late at night. I would most certainly not allow my kids to be out so late. So how come the parents of these teenagers are happy for them to still be out?

I certainly do not claim to have all of the answers. I am purely a web marketer who spends his day promoting a number of websites with regards to subjects such as cost reduction, DVD authoring and stuttering treaments. I therefore am not some kind of expert when it comes to all aspects of bringing up a teenager. I have a teenage daughter and try my utmost to keep her life during this tricky period as easy as possible.

I try to achieve this by setting certain boundaries. She has to be in by a certain time at night; she needs to ensure that all of her homework is completed before she does venture out; she is asked to keep her room tidy and she is also required to help around the house.

If she can stick to these simple rules then she is able to stay up as late as she wants, within reason of course; she is allowed to have her friends around for sleepovers and she receives a fairly hefty sum of pocket money to spend each month.

There are the old hormones and mood swings to contend with. I try and keep calm when this happens by taking my lovely dog Cassie for a long walk!
