Did you know that you can get all of your exercise from gardening? Sure gardening is about growing beautiful flowers and great tasting fruits and vegetables, but there is no denying that it is hard and strenuous work.
Digging holes, pulling weeds and lifting heavy objects. Sounds like exercise to me. If you have ever worked in a garden you know for yourself all of the exercise that goes into it. A garden can indeed be quite a rigorous place.
You may not be an exercise fanatic. In fact, you may dread the gym and hate the sight of a treadmill. The good news is that you don’t have to be at the gym to exercise. Take up gardening. The great thing about getting your exercise from gardening is that you will not only see physical results, but you will also reap the benefits of what you have planted.
Be sure to take precautions when gardening. A lot of time can be spent bending over. Take breaks to rest your back. Make sure you stretch before lifting anything heavy. Lifting a bag of potting soil can cause serious injury if you are not prepared. But don’t be scared either, get out there and get in shape ya’ll.
Take special care of you back when weeding. Those this is great exercise due to the cardio benefits you can hurt your back if you are bent over all day. Be sure to take a break id your back begins to feel sore.
Another great exercise opportunity waits just next to the garden; mowing the lawn. If you are using a push mower you will really feel the burn. After an hour of pushing the mower through the lawn you will begin to notice the workout that you have given to your legs, arms and chest. If you have self-propelled mower, try not using the self-propelling option a couple of times a month. The act of pushing a lawn mower is great cardio workout as well.
You can’t go wrong using gardening as a way to get in shape or lose some weight. You will have a great time and end up being a healthier person because of it. And before you know it, you’ll have a healthy lush landscape to be proud of, along with your new waistline.
