Reaching the Top of the Search Engines

Posted By admin on January 20, 2008 @ 5:44 pm

It is every webmaster’s dream to be at the top of the search results for their search term.  Sure, if you are selling "polka dotted socks" you may have more success than ranking number one for "business opportunities".  But to be honest, even these highly competitive terms you could make it on the first page and even the top results if you do it right.

The key to these higher search engine rankings is using many different Internet marketing methods to push your rankings up from many angles.  Many people will use traditional marketing methods such as directory submissions, forum postings and article marketing.  But there are also some new ways that you can get your site to the top – and chances are your competition isn’t doing it.

The simple answer is to take advantage of the new online media available to you.  Something like creating a video for YouTube can drive traffic to your site.  You can also use some of the social media sites such as MySpace and Facebook.  In fact, there are at least a couple thousand sites that I can think of that will help you spread the word about your business.

So, just be sure that you are actively promoting your site each day – every link you get will get you closer to the top.

New Furniture Possibilities

Posted By Twyla on January 19, 2008 @ 4:15 pm

I was browsing through a furniture store the other day, when I saw the nicest set of contemporary bedroom furniture. It was sleek and stylish and yet very functional. I was really surprised at how quickly I fell in love with the set.

The reason that I am so surprised is that I have never really been a fan of contemporary furniture. I have always been a little bit more traditional and would even say that I would sway more towards Victorian than contemporary. I don’t know if this is because of how I was raised or just my own style choices.

I never actually thought of putting modern furniture in my house. As I had never fallen in love with a set before, it was just never something that had crossed my mind. I would still be skeptical of modernizing my whole house, but I need that bedroom furniture.

Net Newbie

Posted By Twyla on January 18, 2008 @ 7:10 pm

I have to admit that I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to computers. I knew that I would have to break down and buy a computer, but the truth is that it scares me half to death. While I was doing some random searches, I found some fun websites.

I didn’t want to forget them, so I got a notebook and started writing the addresses down. Imagine my surprise and delight when a friend told me about bookmarks. It is a nifty way to keep track of websites that you want to remember.

I also must admit that the Internet buzz is really starting to draw me in and I am really starting to enjoy my computer. It still scares me a lot and I am a slow learner, but some day I will get it.

I also now know how to check website ratings and I can see if a site is popular or not. I use my computer every day now and I even know how to use email. My kids will be so proud of me!

New Jewelry Thanks to a Friend

Posted By admin on January 17, 2008 @ 8:01 pm

I don’t know why I had never thought of wearing stainless steel jewelry before, but I had a friend who was wearing a bracelet that I absolutely loved. I was surprised when she told me what it was made of and how much it had cost her. I had to look for some for myself.

I found that exact bracelet and quite a few other things that I absolutely loved at a wholesale stainless steel jewelry store. The greatest thing was that the more pieces you bought, the cheaper they actually became. I knew I could use a whole lot of these and placed a rather large order.

I learned that by buying stainless steel jewelry wholesale, I could actually afford to fill my jewelry box, as well as get my friends and family some really nice pieces as Christmas presents. I am gradually stocking up and am so thankful for my friend having the bracelet that started it all.

From School to the Mailroom

Posted By admin on January 16, 2008 @ 3:22 pm

I thought I had everything figured out.  I mean, I enrolled at an online business academy to learn everything about business so that I could succeed in the corporate world.  I found the lessons easy, and I passed with good marks.  After finishing school I figured that I would find a perfect job and start my way up the corporate ladder.

But that is not quite how things worked out.

You see, after applying at the many companies in town it ends up that I did find a job, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.  Instead of having a prestigious position, I found myself in the mailroom.

My position, if you will, is to stuff envelopes with store reviews or insurance reviews to send out to our clients.  Not quite the glamorous job I had dreamed of.

I still hold the dream of working in the office in my heart – but slowly, each day, it is slipping away from me.

Introducing the Wealthy to Watch Replicas

Posted By Twyla on January 15, 2008 @ 8:43 pm

I decided that I was going to introduce everyone I know to watch replicas. You see, I come from a very wealthy family, and they tend to flaunt their money around like it would last forever. If they lose a Rolex, they go out and buy a new one. This does not work for me.

I thought if they would purchase replica watches, they could leave the real ones at home locked up and save a ton of money. It did not go over well, as they think there is a big difference. I argued until I was blue in the face, to no avail.

I, myself, wear a Rolex replica watch and they said they can tell it is not real. The funny thing is that they could not tell before I told them it wasn’t real. I give up. I guess I will be the only one who ends up rich, as I am the only one who knows that there is not an ever-flowing river of cash coming through.

Using My Education

Posted By Twyla on January 10, 2008 @ 2:54 pm

I was in the media library at the University in which I used to attend. I was looking through the archives for some information that I had found when I was a student there.
I had thought the search would be a lot easier than it was.

When I found the information that I had been looking for, I inquired about purchasing it. I was informed that there was nothing for sale there and that I would have access to the information while I was there and could not remove it.

I was glad that this was the era of digital media and that I could at least get copies of some things that I needed. I knew that it was better than nothing and that beggars could not be choosers.

I did a free search online for some other information that I remembered from my college days and came up with a few results. It was nice that I was starting to put my education to good use and know that I actually learned something.

If You Ask Me, I Will Tell You

Posted By Twyla on January 5, 2008 @ 10:18 am

What I really hate is when people ask for your opinion when they really don’t want it at all. I mean, if you are going to do it your way anyhow, why bother wasting my time asking me what I think. It really doesn’t matter and it leaves me feeling like a complete moron for giving a big explanation, only to be shot in the foot.

I would say this scenario is really on the mark with my brother-in-law. He is famous for asking us what we think after he has already made his decision. And once he has made his decision, his mind cannot be changed.

I, on the other hand, really value the views and opinions of those around me. If there is a better way to do something and this is explained to me, I can easily have my decision swayed. I think that this is one of the valuable reasons that we have friends.

On the other hand, I do not get a long well with people who have opinions and reviews on anything and everything. I think that an opinion or advice is something that should be offered when asked for, not just handed out at random.

My First Business

Posted By Twyla on January 4, 2008 @ 6:06 pm

I am starting a home business, selling supplies for iPods. I am young and am still in college and I swear that 90% of the kids at my school own iPods and spend a lot of money on them. I was doing some research on it for my economics class and actually set up a virtual business selling things like the iPod Nano video converter.

I got a really good grade for the project and my teacher told me that I have very good business sense. This got me to thinking that I should do it for real. I know that it is harder to put an actual business together than to do it on paper, but I thought I should take the chance anyway. I talked to all of my friends to see what they wanted most and most of them want iPod Touch converters. I found a wholesaler of these and thought I should try just this one item to start with.

I ordered a shipment of them, enough to sell to my friends, and 100 extra to sell to their friends. I also ordered iPod classic converters because I knew they would sell as well. I am so happy to say that I have been quite a success and have very little inventory left. I am ready to venture into other accessories and my friends are ready for the savings I can give them.

Current Projects at Work

Posted By admin on January 2, 2008 @ 10:42 am

I have been working at a software firm that specializes in cutting edge technology.  Specifically, we have been creating software to run on mobile devices, as well as software using in the manufacturing of electronics.

Some of our latest developments include SIM Applications such as enhanced phonebooks and SIM lock capabilities.  The goal with these software applications is to enhance the user experience while using a mobile phone.  So far the customer feedback has been positive and we will continue to develop more applications for mobile phones.

In the area of manufacturing software, we have been working on software to help automate the manufacturing of chip card readers.  We have also been working on software to harden the servers that are using in card encoding processes in a factory here in town.

You job feels a lot more secure knowing that there is a lot of projects on the go.  With the variety of work we are doing it is very hard to get bored – there is always something new, and challenging to work on.
